Anime
is an abbreviation of the English word "animation",
originating in Japan through the roots of manga. Although the
term is used in Japan to refer to animation in general, in English
usage the term most popularly refers to material originating from
Japan, a subset of animation. Anime is traditionally hand
drawn, but computer assisted techniques have become quite common in
recent years. It is used in television series, films, video, video
games, and internet-based releases, and represents all genres of
fiction.
Science Fiction
is a broad genre of fiction that often involves speculations based on
current or future science or technology. Science fiction is found in
books, art, television, films, games, theater, and other media.
Podfiction
is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over
the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media
players and computers. The host or author of a podcast is often called
a podcaster.
Games
PC games are created by one or more game developers, often in
conjunction with other specialists (such as game artists) and either
published independently or through a third party publisher. They may
then be distributed on physical media such as DVDs and CDs, as
Internet-downloadable shareware, or through online delivery services
such as Direct2Drive and Steam.
A video game is a game that involves interaction with a user interface
to generate visual feedback on a video device. The word video
in video game traditionally referred to a raster display
device. However, with the popular use of the term "video
game", it now implies any type of display device.
Science
Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge. This system uses
observation and experimentation to describe and explain natural
phenomena. The term science also refers to the organized body of
knowledge people have gained using that system. Less formally, the word
science often describes any systematic field of study or the knowledge
gained from it. For our purposes, this is anything that relates to the
realization of scifi concepts in the real world.
Weather
The weather is a set of all extant phenomena in a given atmosphere at a
given time. It also includes interactions with the hydrosphere. The
term usually refers to the activity of these phenomena over short
periods (hours or days), as opposed to the term climate, which refers
to the average atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time. When
used without qualification, "weather" is understood to be the weather
