The Hayate the Combat Butler
52-episode anime was produced by animation
studio SynergySP and with music by Kōtarō Nakagawa.
Hayate Ayasaki is an unlucky teenager who worked since
childhood to
make ends meet due to his parents' irresponsible behavior. One day he
finds out that his parents were planning to sell his organs to the Yakuza
to make money, leaving behind a massive gambling debt on his shoulders.
While running away from the debt collectors, he ends up meeting Nagi
Sanzen'in, a young girl who is the sole heir of the wealthy Sanzen'in
estate, and due to a misunderstanding, Nagi ends up falling in love
with Hayate. After he rescues Nagi from some kidnappers, she hires
Hayate as her new butler.
Aside from performing his ordinary duties as a butler, Hayate must
fight to protect Nagi from harm, a difficult task since her life is
always in danger because she is the target of other individuals
coveting her family's fortune, and sometimes deal with some extravagant
requests from her, oblivious to Nagi's true feelings for him. In the
later story, Hayate has to deal with the feelings of several other
girls, including the president of the student council of Nagi's school,
Hinagiku.

are normal and makes a passing remark that Nagi "wouldn't understand".
Nagi runs off in rage, determined to learn how to be 'normal'. Nagi
meets Ayumu Nishizawa and comes to the conclusion that tagging along
with her will help her learn how to be 'normal'. After a day of
following (and bothering) Ayumu, she invites Nagi to stay at her place.
Ayumu gives Hayate a call, at Nagi's request, to inform him that Nagi
will be staying over. It turns out that Hayate has been following them.
Just as Hayate was about to leave, Isumi shouts in distress, trapped at
the top of a nearby tower. Wataru rushes to save her before Hayate
while Saki rushes to save a clumsily climbing Wataru. When Isumi falls
along with Wataru, Hayate catches both of them. However, Saki, Sakuya,
and Sakuya's bodyguards also fall on top of a dizzy Hayate. Sakuya
jokingly reveals that the reason Hayate did not have that much
screentime in the episode was because he was the one doing all the
behind-the-scenes work.
Nagi,
Hayate, and Maria go to a Christmas party hosted by Nagi's grandfather.
Just like the previous Christmas party, Nagi escapes - this time with
Hayate. They head to the park where Nagi tries to make romantic
advances on Hayate, but they are interrupted by a mysterious dark
butler, Cyborg Butler, and Superintendent Kirika. Hayate is defeated,
but they are saved by Himegami, who now calls himself Princess God. The

like the Dog, the Mouse, and the Bulldog" "Sore wa Inu to Nezumi to Burudoggu no Yō ni"(それは犬と鼠とブルドッグのように)
Nagi,
perplexed by Hayate's apparent lack of weaknesses despite being a main
character, plots ways to find chinks in his armor. As her various
schemes fail to produce results, Maria, Sakuya, and Isumi get swept up
in the flow and discuss their weaknesses as well. Hayate and Wataru
begin studying German in preparation for a Hakuō mathematics exam,
while Maria tells Hayate a bit of background information on Isumi,
Sakuya, and Wataru. When they go to check on Nagi and Wataru, Nagi
becomes jealous that they are alone together, prompting Maria to remark
that Hayate's weakness seems to be not understanding the female
heart.
While
working on her manga, Nagi gets the idea that, instead of chasing after
Hayate to further their relationship, she must give him the cold
shoulder and force him to chase her. A convenient invitation from
Sakuya to a cruise on a familiar-looking ship gives her the perfect
opportunity to set this plan into motion. As Hayate wanders around
amazed, she shuns him over and over, culminating in the command to
"explore the ship yourself". The ship is then threatened by a trio of
terrorists, who are handily defeated by the Sanzen'in and Aizawa
butlers; however, one of them sets off a bomb, blowing a hole in a
cargo hold Hayate had just wandered into. There, he meets Isumi, who
had become lost, in danger from a pair of large sharks. As the
ship-goers are evacuating, Nagi remarks that Hayate hasn't shown up
yet, and goes to search for him. She finds him holding off a shark; as
she dives into the water to help, she is attacked by the other shark.
Hayate defeats the sharks to save Nagi, but falls unconscious from the
combination of the cold water and wounds he received from the earlier
explosion. He is saved by Klaus, but Klaus' attitude causes Nagi to
worry, as it has the effect she was trying to achieve herself.

Fullmetal
Alchemist: Brotherhood, known in Japan as Hagane
no Renkinjutsushi: Fullmetal Alchemist, is the second
independent anime adaptation developed by Bones from the Fullmetal Alchemistmanga series by Hiromu Arakawa. While the
studio Bones produces the new series, Yasuhiro Irie works as
director, and Hiroshi Ōnogi as writer. The
series follows the story of two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric,
who want to restore their bodies after a disastrous failed attempt to
bring their mother back to life through alchemy. Unlike the first
anime, which had its own original story, the second series follows the
story of the manga
#
Title
01
"Fullmetal
Alchemist" "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi"(鋼
の錬金術師)
The
Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who have already
made a strong reputation of themselves despite Edward's short military
career, are called upon by Führer King Bradley
and Colonel Roy Mustang
to hunt down rogue State Alchemist Isaac McDougal. Edward and Alphonse
ambush and successfully capture their target. However, due to Ed's
carelessness, the "Freezing Alchemist" finds an opening and escapes.
The Elric brothers alongside the State Military are forced to confront
McDougal again when he simultaneously activates numerous transmutation
circles in Central, which creates an alchemic reaction encompassing the
entire Central Command Center. Ed suspects the use of a Philosopher's
Stone, but is unable to confirm his suspicion. Luckily, the Elrics,
Major Alex Louis
Armstrong,
and Mustang succeed in thwarting McDougal's plans to bury Central in
ice. The Führer confronts McDougal as he attempts to escape. In the
brief battle that follows, Isaac is easily cut down by the Führer, who
later credits both Colonel Mustang and the Elric brothers in helping
accomplish the mission.
02
"The
First Day" "Hajimari no Hi"(は

Colonel Maes
Hughes
shows Mustang the paperwork concerning the McDougal incident, which
states that McDougal used a Xingese art known as alkahestry; neither
Hughes nor Mustang have heard of it. As the Elrics depart for Liore by
train, Ed reminisces his and Al's childhood. They learn rudimentary
alchemy from their father's books, and, after their mother's death,
attempt to revive her by performing taboo human transmutation. During
the alchemical reaction, a dark shadow emerges, grabbing hold of Al and
Ed, completely breaking down Al's physical body. Ed awakens before a
mysterious gate and meets a disembodied figure, referring to itself as
"all," "one," and "you." In order to show Edward "The Truth," the door
opens and shadows embrace Ed, filling his mind with information.
However, he is pulled back from the gate just before he learns the
secret behind perfect human transmutation. As a "toll" for this
knowledge, the disembodied figure removes Edward's leg as payment,
taking it for itself. Back in reality, Ed curses his actions in causing
his brother's disappearance, and the disfigured humanoid the Elrics
created in the center of the transmutation circle cries out before
shortly dying. Using his own blood as an anchoring point, Ed bonds Al's
soul to a suit of armor, losing his arm to equivalent exchange. Ed's
skill in both surviving the attempted human transmutation and anchoring
his brother's soul attracts the attention of Mustang, who suggests Ed
become a State Alchemist. Edward accepts, and, after passing the state
exams, is given the title "Fullmetal Alchemist."
03
"City
of Heresy" "Jakyō no Machi"(邪
教の街)
Ed
and Al arrive at Liore, where they witness Father Cornello's
"miracles," performed by what could only be the Philosopher's Stone.
They meet Rosé
and request to see Cornello. Cornello, who is aware of the State
Alchemists, ambushes Ed and Al, and asks Rose to shoot the Fullmetal
Alchemist. Rosé accidentally shoots Al, and discovers his armor is
empty. Cornello sends a chimera after Ed, who fends it back with his
automail, revealing their sin. Ed and Al escape, taking Rose with them.
While Al explains to Rosé the sin they have committed, Cornello finds
Ed and reveals his plans, unaware it had been broadcasted to the whole
town of Liore. When Cornello tries to use the Philosopher's Stone
against Ed, it rebounds. When he tries to use it again, he grows into a
monster and fights Ed, but is defeated by him. When Ed tries to
retrieve the Philosopher's Stone from Cornello, it breaks, revealing it
as a fake. Cornello runs off, but is killed by Lust
and eaten by Gluttony.
When Rosé confronts Ed and Al about the stone, Ed tells her to walk on
her own two feet.
04
"An
Alchemist's Anguish" "Renkinjutsushi no Kunō"(錬
金術師の苦悩)
A
mysterious man with a "X"-shaped scar across his face attacks and
murders State Alchemists. King Bradley orders Hughes and Armstrong to
use all available resources to stop the murderer. Meanwhile, to avoid
being in debt to Edward for helping to resolve what happened in Lior,
Mustang introduces the Elrics to Shou Tucker.
Tucker, the "Sewing-Life Alchemist," obtained his State Alchemist
credentials by creating a chimera that could understand human language.
He opens up his library to the Elrics for them to study living creature
transmutation, but they also end up devoting time to play with Tucker's
young daughter Nina and family dog Alexander. Upon returning to the
house for another study session, they find that Tucker has created
another speaking chimera in order to satisfy his yearly examination
requirements. However, Ed is horrified to discover that the speaking
chimera was created using Nina and Alexander, and realizes that Tucker
did the same with his wife, two years prior. Ed nearly beats him to
death, stopped only by Al. Ed is left feeling helpless, while Mustang
tells him that by being a State Alchemist, Ed must prepare himself to
take a life if called upon by the military. While Tucker is under
arrest for his actions, he is visited by the scarred man who kills him
and the chimera.
05
"Rain
of Sorrows" "Kanashimi no Ame"(哀
しみの雨)
After
Ed wakes up from a nightmare, the Elrics stop by Mustang's office to
inquire about Shou and Nina Tucker. Encountering Lt. Riza
Hawkeye,
she reveals, as she heads to the crime scene, that they have both been
killed. Meanwhile, back in Lior, Lust and Gluttony attempt to cause a
rebellion using the faith of the locals, with Envy using his
shape-shifting powers to disguise himself as Cornello. Back at East
City, as Ed and Al dwell on their limits in alchemy, they are viciously
attacked by "Scar." They quickly retreat until they are cornered and
are forced to defend themselves, resulting in Scar destroying Ed's arm
and damaging Al's body. Just as Scar prepares to finish off Ed, Mustang
and his soldiers intervene. Mustang attempts to subdue Scar, but is
saved by Hawkeye, who reminds the Mustang that his flame alchemy is
useless in the rain. When Armstrong arrives and battles Scar, it is
revealed that the man is an Ishbalan. Outnumbered, Scar manages to
escape into the sewers, and Mustang tells the Elric brothers about the
Ishbal Massacre. The Elrics then decide to head back to Resembool to
repair their bodies.
06
"Road
of Hope" "Kibō no Michi"(希
望の道)
After
their encounter with Scar, the Elric brothers, escorted by Armstrong,
head back to Resembool. During a stop in a small town on their way to
Resembool, Armstrong spots a man named Tim Marcoh.
He explains that Marcoh was a State Alchemist and doctor during the
Ishbal War, and conducted research on biological alchemy before
disappearing at the end of the war. In an effort to learn about
Marcoh's research, Ed decides to get off the train and chase after
Marcoh. They catch up to him and learn that he was researching the
Philosopher's Stone, and that he succeeded in creating it, though it is
still incomplete. At first refusing to share his knowledge with Ed,
Marcoh eventually gives them a clue to the location of his research
data. After they reach Resembool, Winry Rockbell
and her grandmother, Pinako, get to work on Ed's automail. After
receiving his replacement arm and leg, Ed uses his alchemy to rebuild
Al's armor from the shattered remains. Afterwards, the brothers, along
with Armstrong, head back to Central to find Marcoh's
research.
07
"Hidden
Truths" "Kakusareta Shinjitsu"(隠
された真実)
Ed
and Al arrive back in Central, only to find that the First Branch
Library had been burned to the ground. Scar encounters and battles Lust
and Gluttony in the sewers, resulting in a large explosion. Ed and Al's
new escorts, Maria Ross
and Denny Brosh, direct Ed and Al to Sheska,
a file clerk who had worked at the First Branch, but was fired for
spending all her time reading. Sheska reveals that she has memorized
all of Marcoh's works, and then makes hand-written duplicates for the
Elrics. While initially appearing to be a cookbook, Ed notices that is
written in a code that Marcoh created. Ed and Al spend several days
deciphering the hidden data, only to discover that the Philosopher's
Stone is made from living humans. Ed asks Ross and Brosh to keep it a
secret, but Armstrong learns about it using intimidation. Ed notices
another hidden piece of information, locating an unused laboratory next
to a prison, where raw materials for the stone were gathered. Armstrong
tells Ed and Al to stay put, but they both manage to sneak out to the
laboratory. Ed enters the building via an air duct while Al waits
outside, unaware that he is being watched by a menacing
figure.
08
"The
Fifth Laboratory" "Daigo Kenkyūsho"(第

Outside
the lab, Al fights Barry the Chopper, and Ed faces Slicer inside. It is
revealed that both opponents are souls of murderers affixed to armor.
Ed struggles in his battle when his automail arm malfunctions, the
result of Winry forgetting to add a small bolt back in Resembool. Ed is
particularly troubled when his opponent turns out to be a pair of
brothers, each controlling a different part of the armor. Al initially
has the advantage in his fight, until Barry suggests that Al never
existed and was just a doll made by Ed. Al contemplates this as a
possibility, since Ed had previously mentioned to Al that he had
something he was afraid to tell him. Ed manages to defeat Slicer by
using Scar's destruction technique, but before he can get any
information from the two brothers, they are killed by Lust and Envy. Ed
demands to know who they are and tries to use alchemy, but his automail
arm breaks and he gets knocked out by Envy. Outside, Barry almost gets
the upper hand on Al, but he is saved by the arrival of Ross and Brosh.
Envy and Lust destroy the lab to cover up the evidence of the
Philosopher's Stone, but not before carrying Ed outside and handing him
over to Ross and Brosh, commenting that he is an "important
sacrifice."
09
"Created
Feelings" "Tsukurareta Omoi"(創

Ed
and Al are in hospital following the Fifth Laboratory incident. Ross
slaps Ed for being reckless, and asks him to trust adults more. Needing
his automail repaired, Ed calls for Winry to come to Central. When
Winry arrives at the train station, Al contemplates what Barry had told
him. Hughes invites Winry over to his daughter's birthday party, where
she laments that Ed and Al never tell her anything. Hughes tells her
that men tend to hide things so as not to worry anyone. Al decides to
confront Ed about what he was afraid to tell him, asking if he was
really an artificial soul. Ed storms off and Winry yells at Al, telling
him that Ed was terrified that Al blamed him for getting him stuck in
the armor. Ed and Al then have a fight, which Ed wins, and they both
reminisce about their past fights, reaffirming their existence.
Meanwhile, Scar wakes up in the care of Ishbalan refugees.

"Separate
Destinations" "Sorezore no Yukusaki"(そ

Ed
and Al decide to go to the town of Dublith to visit their alchemy
teacher, Izumi Curtis,
to ask her for information about the Philosopher's Stone. They agree to
take Winry with them when she notices that Rush Valley, a town best
known for its automail shops, is on the way to Dublith. King Bradley
appears and warns the Elrics to be careful around the military, and he
then hops out of a window to evade his subordinates. Hughes
investigates the problems in Lior, The Fifth Laboratory, and the war in
Ishbal. He discovers a connection, but is then attacked by Lust. He
escapes her and tries to telephone Mustang with his information at a
public phonebooth, only to be gunned down by Envy disguised as Maria
Ross, and then as his wife Gracia. Hughes is posthumously promoted to
the rank of Brigadier General. Mustang investigates Hughes' murder, and
concludes via Armstrong that a high-ranked member of the military may
be responsible for the command of Hughes' death.

"Miracle
at Rush Valley" "Rasshu Barē no Kiseki"(ラッ

As
Ed, Al and Winry arrive in Rush Valley, Ed's State Alchemist Watch is
stolen by a pickpocket named Paninya, who has automail legs. After
tracking her down, Winry asks her automail's creator, Mr. Dominic, to
let her be his apprentice, but is swiftly declined. As Winry convinces
Paninya to stop pickpocketing and return the watch, she peeks in it and
finds, carved inside, the date Ed and Al burned down their house.
Meanwhile, one of the residents is having a baby, and since they are
unable to travel to a hospital in the poor weather, Winry decides to
deliver the baby. Following a successful birth, Winry asks again to be
an apprentice, and Mr. Dominic directs her to another mechanic where
she can study to become a better automail engineer. With that, Ed and
Al continue onwards to Dublith.

"One

Ed
and Al visit Izumi in order to get clues on the Philosopher's Stone.
During their stay, the Elric brothers recall how they first met Izumi
during a flooding in Resembool, and how they had been formally accepted
as Izumi's disciples after being stranded on an island for 30 days. Ed
recalls that he and Al had figured out the meaning behind "One is All,
All is One." Izumi notices that Ed and Al had attempted human
transmutation, due to their movement during hand-to-hand combat
training. Realizing that they were not the only ones who had committed
the taboo, Izumi tells the Elrics that she also had attempted human
transmutation to bring back her child, who died when Izumi became sick
during pregnancy. The three make up, realizing the hardships that they
went through after suffering the effects of human
transmutation.

Ed
and Al are "expelled" by Izumi. Sig tells them that though they are no
longer her pupils, they are now her equals. Meanwhile, Roy plays a
chess game with General Grumman before he announces to Hawkeye, Havoc,
Falman, Breda, and Fuery that they are all going back to be restationed
in Central. Scar, recovering in an Ishbalan squatter colony, is advised
by the elder that pursuing the current State Alchemists in the
Amestrisian military would not do the surviving Ishbalans any good.
Yoki recruits two thugs to capture Scar and bring him back to Central,
due to his connections to the murder of State Alchemist Basque Gran.
Scar easily defeats them and leaves the colony. Lured to a trap after
reading a threatening note regarding Ed and Al's secret, Al is captured
by Greed's ex-military chimera henchmen to figure out how to transmute
a soul into an empty armor. Ed faces off against Dorchet and then
Greed, who uses his "Ultimate Shield" to make himself invulnerable to
Ed's attacks. Ed finds a way around this by transmuting the ultimate
shield itself. Izumi arrives and intervenes, taking Greed by
surprise.

King
Bradley and Armstrong lead a team of Amestrian special forces soldiers
to raid the Devil's Nest, the former using it as cover to hunt down and
execute Greed. All of the ex-chimera soldiers, including Dorochett,
Roa, and Martel, are killed by Bradley himself, who he reveals to Greed
his true identity, as Wrath, while the others are shot and killed by
the commandos. When Martel, who is hiding inside Al, is killed, her
blood splashes on Al's blood seal and unlocks his forgotten memories.
Al reveals to Ed that he managed to recover all of his memories prior
to being taken away from the Gate when Ed failed in his human
transmutation attempt to revive their mother. Greed, severely weakened
by Wrath with his dual swords during a duel in the sewers beneath
Devil's Nest, is taken back as a captive to Father, who was
disappointed at him after he deserted the rest of the homunculi by
leaving them behind. Due to Greed's refusal at re-joining the homunculi
and Father, Greed is killed by being melted alive down to a liquid
Philosopher's Stone, which is then consumed by Father.

Scar
fights with another State Alchemist known as the "Silver Alchemist,"
whom he quickly deals with. As he enters back to the temporary hideout,
Scar discovers a young Xingese girl accompanied by a tiny panda and
demands an explanation from Yoki. The girl introduces herself as May
Chang, and her panda, Shao May, who traveled across the Great Eastern
Desert to Amestris to search for the Philosopher's Stone. In Central,
Barry the Chopper is detained by Mustang, Hawkeye, and Falman to be
interrogated regarding Hughes' assassination. Elsewhere, the Elric
brothers return to Rush Valley to have Ed's automail repaired once
again. They then find a man on the verge of starving to death and save
him. Grateful for his rescue, he introduces himself to the brothers as
Lin Yao, and explains his purpose for coming from the far east kingdom
of Xing. He also informs them of alkahestry. Lin summons his bodyguards
and holds Ed and Al hostage to reveal the secrets of the Philosopher's
Stone, which leads to a fight in the middle of Rush Valley. Lin and his
bodyguards retreat after their defeat, forcing the Elric brothers to
confront the angry townspeople. Lin meets with Ed and Al again after
they repair the town, explaining Xingese history. In the night, Yoki
and Scar travel to Central in a cart with May in tow.

to Envy, disguised as one of her superiors. When Ed and Al meet up with
Roy, he lies about Hughes' death, but they soon learn the truth after
encountering Ross. Winry soon finds out the truth as well after
visiting Gracia and Elicia, and Ed and Al arrive to apologize, since Ed
blames himself for Hughes's murder. Gracia encourages them to push
forward, even though she is holding back her tears. Envy comes up with
a plan to stop Roy investigating Hughes' death, and the next day Ross

promises that he would help him and also Ross. Barry tells Ross that
she needs to leave Central immediately, or risk being killed. Ed and Al
run into the trio, and Barry holds the brothers off to allow Ross time
to get away. Ross then runs into Mustang, who seemingly kills her in a
massive explosion. Edward later accosts Mustang after seeing Ross'
charred body while Mustang coldly reminds Ed of his place as a soldier
of the Amestrian military. Major Armstrong later shows up at the
Elrics' hotel room and declares that Ed "needs" to return back to
Resembool to have his automail arm fixed, and drags the confused Ed
away.

Once
they arrive in Resembool, Ed and Armstrong meet up with Breda, who
takes them to the ruins of Xerxes. Once there, they discover that Ross
is still alive, and that Mustang faked her death in order to draw out
those responsible for Hughes' death. After the brief reunion, Ross
decides to hide out in Xing, but promises to return if she is ever
needed. After Ross' departure, Ed explores the ruins further and
encounters a group of Ishbalan refugees, who reveal that it was Scar
who killed Winry's parents during the Ishbal War. Meanwhile, back in
Central, Barry's body, which is now nothing more than a crazed animal,
attacks Falman and Barry. However, with Havoc and Hawkeye's assistance,
they manage to subdue Barry's body. Then, Hawkeye is attacked by
Gluttony.

Hawkeye
is saved from Gluttony by Mustang, Master Sergeant Kain Fuery, and her

Barry, who chases his body into the depths of the Third Laboratory. The
group splits into two teams. Mustang and Lieutenant Havoc are ambushed
by Lust, resulting in both men being grievously wounded and left for
dead. Lust then confronts Al, Hawkeye, and Barry, slicing Barry to
pieces. Hawkeye, believing Mustang to be dead, flies into a suicidal
rage and shoots Lust repeatedly, without effect. Before Lust can kill
Hawkeye, Mustang appears, revealing he sealed both his and Havoc's
wounds by burning them shut. He repeatedly sets Lust on fire until her
Philospher's Stone runs out of energy. No longer able to regenerate,
her body and Philosopher's Stone core crumble to ash. Barry's soul
survives, but his blood seal is scratched out by his body, which kills
both of them. Edward returns to Resembool and heads for the Rockbell
house, but spots his father, Van Hohenheim, at his mother's
grave.

Ed
is not happy to see Hohenheim again. Later that night, Ed overhears a
conversation Hohenheim has with Pinako about whether or not the person
Ed transmuted was actually his mother. Hohenheim leaves the next day,
warning Pinako that something horrible will happen in this country. Al
explains to Ling the circumstances of his body, and Winry is appalled
at Lin's opinion that a body like Al's would be great. Determined to
find the true answer, Ed and Pinako dig up the corpse of the failed
transmutation, even though Ed keeps retching at the thought. When he
digs up some hair, he realizes it wasn't their mother Trisha that they
transmuted. Ed then calls Izumi about the legitimacy of her
transmutation, but she doesn't answer. Ed then returns to Central and
reunites with Al and Winry, reassuring them that getting Al's body back
might be possible. Izumi calls Ed back, saying she had the same results
as him, which confirms his suspicions that it is possible to bring Al's
body back, but not to revive the dead. Ed, Al, and Izumi feel a sense
of relief that they hadn't killed someone a second time. Ed and Al
reaffirm their resolve to return Al to his original body.

Fan appear and agree to help them, as it would benefit Ling in finding
immortality. After investigation, Ed, Al, and Roy begin to suspect
Bradley of cooperating with the homunculi. While Roy and co. prepare
themselves to go after them, Havoc reveals the lower half of his body
is paralyzed, and Roy feels a bit of remorse for that. Roy sends Breda
to locate Dr. Marcoh, while Ed and Armstrong get word that Scar is
nearby. Breda reaches Marcoh's place, only to find he has been
kidnapped. Ed makes a spectacle of himself, eventually drawing out
Scar. Ed and Al fight him while Roy confuses the military to buy them
time. Ed notices the tattoo on Scar's arm, realizing he is the one who
killed Winry's parents. Lin and Lan Fan end up facing Gluttony and

at Scar. Scar remembers about his brother who researched into alchemy
to combat against the attacking State Alchemists. However, they were
attacked by Kimblee, who heavily injured Scar. To save him, his brother
sacrificed himself and transferred his right arm to his. Shocked upon
waking up and seeing his brother's arm on his body, he went beserk and
killed Winry's parents. Before they can kill each other, Ed protects
Winry from Scar, reminding him of when his brother protected him. Al
chases Scar while Ed comforts Winry, getting her to let go of the gun.

capture Gluttony. Lan Fan manages to escape Bradley by cutting off her
disabled arm to throw off her blood trail. Riza arrives and drives off
with Lin and Gluttony, keeping it secret from the military. As Ed and
Al are about to apprehend Scar, they are stopped by May Chang, who uses
her alkahestry to escape with him. However, Ed and Al manage to take
custody of her panda, Shao May. As they arrive back at HQ, they tell
Winry everything. She feels depressed, believing all she can do is
wait, but feels better when she receives a call from her customers back
in Rush Valley. As she goes on the train back, Winry realizes that she
actually has fallen in love with Ed. Meanwhile, Ed and Al join up with
the others at a hideout, where Lan Fan's wounds are treated. Lin

gets Gluttony to take him to Father, who is apparently in Central, and
Bradley gets leverage over Roy by transferring his men to various

and decide to follow them down to an underground tunnel, where they
fight off several chimeras. Ed spots the Philosopher's Stone inside
Envy, and, after seeing the missing piece from the ruins of Xerxes
found in Gluttony's stomach, he figures out a way to escape from
Gluttony. Bradley explains to Roy how he was trained from birth for
leadership and was injected with the Philosopher's Stone. Ed
reluctantly uses the souls inside Envy's stone to transmute himself and
open the Door of Truth to escape through. Ed finds Al's body but is
unable to bring it back, since it isn't his. However, before the Door
closes, he bursts through it, yelling to Al's body that he will come
back to get him someday.

Alphonse
and Gluttony arrive at Father's lair, when Ed, Envy, and Lin burst out
of Gluttony's stomach. Father then uses his strange powers and turns
off Ed's and Al's alchemy, rendering them vulnerable. Lin is then
captured and given the Philosopher's Stone, which he willingly accepts,
turning him into Greed. Scar and May then arrive and engage in battle,
where their alchemy is still effective. Scar learns about the murder
that Envy committed which triggered the Ishbalan Civil War and attacks
Father, only to find his powers ineffective against him. May gets
injured, and Scar uses a hydrogen explosion as a diversion so that they
can both escape. Ed battles Greed and is quickly subdued, although he
can sense that Lin is still there. As a result of the earlier
explosion, Gluttony uses up the last of his regenerative abilities, so
Father extracts his Philosopher's Stone to make a new
Gluttony.

with Bradley. Ed threatens to quit the military, but Bradley says he
will kill Winry if he does. However, he allows Ed and Al to continue
their research. Roy enquires if Bradley was the one who killed Hughes,
which he wasn't. Ed asks Mustang to borrow some change, and Ed and Al
call Winry to make sure she is all right. After, they encounter Greed,
who gives them a message from Lin to Lan Fan. Meeting up with Bradley,
Greed points out that Lin is still fighting for control of his body.
Roy reveals Bradley's identity to Armstrong, and ponders that there may
be another homunculus hidden in the shadows. Al passes on Ling's
message to Lan Fan, as well as telling her about him and Greed,
encouraging her to get an automail arm. Ed, hearing that other
alchemists' alchemy had failed at the same time as his and Al's,
wonders how Scar and May's alchemy works. Meanwhile, as Father creates
a new copy of Gluttony, Scar encounters Marcoh in the homunculi's
prison. Marcoh begs Scar to kill him so that the homunculi cannot use
him for their plans. However, Scar demands to hear more about the
Ishvalan War from him.

Years
ago, Roy's desire to become a state alchemist was disapproved of by his
teacher, Berthold Hawkeye, Riza's father. Before dying from an illness,
he asked Roy to look after Riza, who, on her back, has the details of
his flame alchemy research. In the present, Ed visits Riza to return
the gun she gave him, and asks about Ishbal. After the war broke out,
Bradley passed a document announcing the extermination of the
Ishbalans. It took a toll on many alchemists, including Roy, which
wasn't helped by the taunts of Kimblee, who enjoys killing. As Marcoh
tells Scar his side of the story, he reveals that he was involved in
using Ishbalans to make the Philosopher's Stone, which was given to the
state alchemists to enhance their alchemy. The Ishbalan leader tried
pleading with Bradley to end the killing in exchange for his life, but
was rejected. When the war finally ended, Roy resolved that he would
work to become the new Führer to protect the people, and appointed Riza
as his second-in-command. Riza mentions to Ed that when they finally
achieve peace, they may have to be punished for the crimes they
committed during the war. When Envy checks Marcoh's cell, he finds a
beheaded corpse and the word "vengeance" written in blood on the
wall.

May's alchemy worked when theirs was blocked. However, May had run off,
so they go and look for her. Meanwhile, Riza, Breda, Fuery and Falman
say their goodbyes as they are sent to different HQs, with Roy finding
a hidden message inside a chess set Falman returned him. Roy later
reminds Ed that he owes him 520 cens, but Ed decides to hold on it
until Roy becomes Führer. Roy uses the note he got from Falman to make
contact with Grumman. Meanwhile, Fu is shocked to find Lan Fan had lost
her arm, and declines Ed's help to find an automail mechanic, since it
would involve Ed's acquaintances in their troubles. Afterwards, Knox
gets a visit from his wife and son, who are pleased to hear he treated
two live patients. Suspecting that Marcoh had escaped along with Scar,
Envy releases Kimblee from prison and gives him the task of retrieving
Marcoh and killing Scar. Wanting to find out more about Kimblee and the
secrets behind his brother's alchemy, Scar destroys Marcoh's face so it
won't be recognized, before heading off to the North to recover his
brother's notes.

May at the train station, Roy asks Armstrong to pass the message on to
Ed, who had decided to look in the library for information on
alkahestry. Upon passing on the message, Armstrong also gives Ed a
letter of introduction to pass on to Major General Armstrong, his
sister, at Fort Briggs. Later on, Ed and Al meet Bradley's adopted son,
Selim, and are invited to his house where they also meet Bradley's
wife, and are later joined by Bradley himself. After the meeting, Ed
and Al head off towards the North. Meanwhile, Scar and his accomplice
escape from the train heading West, and Kimblee tries to predict Scar's

recognize each other from when they crossed paths in Ishbal, and a
fight ensues. Scar manages to impale Kimblee, but Kimblee manages to
separate the train carriages and escape. Meanwhile, May continues north
with Marcoh, while Ed and Al arrive upon the mountain path leading to
Fort Briggs. They soon find themselves attacked by one of Briggs'
soldiers, Captain Buccaneer, before being surrounded by the guards.
They are confronted by Major General Olivier Mira Armstrong. May and

Olivier to be interested in alkahestry. They are given work to do by
Major Miles, who is part Ishbalan, and also run into Falman. Suddenly,
the homunculus named Sloth appears from underground, and Olivier is
surprised by his invulnerability. Ed has to hold back his answers about
the homunculus, only mentioning that its make up is similar to a

who uses the Philosopher's Stone to heal his wounds. Meanwhile, Marcoh
continues to look into alkahestry, with May teaching him about how it
works. Olivier, Buccaneer, Falman, Ed, and Al investigate the tunnel
that Sloth made, where Olivier has Ed tell her everything. Ed and
Falman deduce that the tunnel is being used as a giant trasmutation

son, Selim, is a homunculus named Pride, who attacks from the shadows.
Kimblee orders Ed to search for Scar and Marcoh, and to create a bloody
crest similar to Ishbal in Briggs, tempting him with a Philosopher's
Stone if he accepts. After telling Al and Winry about the situation, Ed
grudgingly accepts the job, though he doesn't intend to use the stone
himself. As Ed and Al go to search for Scar, their real intent to find

them. Scar gets pinned, but Ed and Al arrive and beat the chimeras,
before restraining Scar themselves. Winry and Miles arrive, and Winry

Scar to decipher his brother's research, Miles offers to hide everyone
at Fort Briggs, with Al insisting on sparing the two chimera. While
Marcoh and company head for Briggs via tunnels in the mines, Winry
comes up with rouse to make it look like Scar has kidnapped her to
elude Kimblee just before a blizzard sets in. However, as Marcoh's
group heads for the fort, Miles gets word that Olivier is no longer at
Briggs, and the fort is being manned by people from Central. Al goes

Xerxes, where Hohenheim was raised as a nameless slave. There,
Hohenheim met Homunculus, a being in a flask who was created from his
blood, which gave Hohenheim his current name and taught him the basics
of alchemy. One night, Homunculus was summoned by the King of Xerxes,
who asked Homunculus to tell him the secret for immortality. Homunculus
tricked the king into making a gigantic transmutation circle, using the
whole country as a sacrifice, while it and Hohenheim stood at the
center of the circle. When Hohenheim awoke, everyone else in Xerxes was
dead, except for Homunculus. It created a body shaped like Hohenheim
for itself, becoming 'Father.' Back in the present, after Hohenheim
awakes from this shared dream, he runs into Izumi and Sig. When

snipe Kimblee, but Kimblee has already figured out their intent and
uses a cover of snow to enter the mines. Ed tries to follow, but is
attacked by two more chimeras, Darius and Heinkel. Ed disables them by
using the ammonia in dynamite to make a stink bomb to overwhelm their
high sense of smell. Ed then knocks the Philosopher's Stone out of
Kimblee's hand, but Kimblee uses another Stone hidden inside his mouth,
sending Ed and the chimeras down a mine shaft and leaving Ed impaled by
a steel bar. At the same time, Al starts to drift out of consciousness,
saying his soul is being drawn back to his body. Determined not to die,
Ed gets the chimeras to remove the bar while he sacrifices some of his

Marcoh destroys Envy's Philosopher's Stone and renders Envy into a
tiny, parasitic creature. Scar gives it to May and tells her to return

the rest head for Liore. In Dublith, Bido, the last remaining chimera

old hideouts in Central and are soon met by Lin, who had managed to
temporarily regain control over his body. Before Greed takes over
again, Lin tells Ed that Father will try to open the gate on "The
Promised Day." Since Greed had severed his relationships with the
homunculi, Ed suggests that Greed become his ally. Greed jokes that he
just might consider it if they work for him, but Ed decides to take

"Sacrifices" "Hitobashira"(ひ

Lin
and Bradley's fight leaves them hanging over the side of the front
gate, but Lin is saved by Lan Fan while Bradley falls into the moat
below. As Buccaneer lays dying, he gives his final request to Ling to
defend the front gate. Already distraught by Fu's death, Lin complies
and draws upon the full power of Greed's Ultimate Shield to annihilate
all Central forces before the gate. Underground, Ed, Izumi, and the
unconscious Al reappear in Father's lair to find Hohenheim subdued.
With four of the five human sacrifices, Father is left to wait for the
fifth. The gold-toothed doctor in the levels above decides to use Roy
as the candidate for the fifth sacrifice, has Riza's throat slit and
tells Roy that he will only save her if he performs human
transmutation.
59
"Lost
Light" "Ushinawareta Hikari"(失

Following
Riza's eye signal, Roy refuses to perform a human transmutation. May
arrives with Zampano, Jerso, and Darius and heals Riza's wound.
However, Bradley and Pride also appear and force Roy to perform human
transmutation, using the gold-toothed doctor as a sacrifice. Roy passes
through the Gate of Truth and reappears in Father's lair with Pride,
Father, and the other sacrifices, and finds he has lost his eyesight in
exchange. Scar battles Bradley above, and May crashes through the
ceiling of Father's lair to find Al unconscious. Al stands before the
Gate to find his body, but despairs that he will be unable to use it to
fight alongside the others because it is so frail. He promises to
return for his body and goes through the Gate, regaining consciousness
in Father's lair and completing Father's count for the five
sacrifices.
60
"Eye
of Heaven, Gateway of Earth" "Ten no Hitomi, Chi no Tobira"(天
の瞳、地の扉)
Ed
and Al battle against Pride while May tries to take on Father.
Meanwhile, Ishvalans make plans within the city. In his fight against
Bradley, Scar reveals a reconstruction transmutation circle from his
brother's research now tattooed on his other arm. Just as Ed's group
starts to gain the upper hand, and despite the arrival of Greed, Father
grabs the four sacrifices and uses them, along with Hohenheim, for his
transmutation circle, absorbing all the souls in Amestris. This opens a
giant gate flat on the surface of the Earth, which a now giant Father
rises from. Another gate opens in the sky with a giant eye looking out,
which Father calls "God" and pulls towards him.
61
"He
Who Would Swallow God" "Kami o Nomikomishi Mono"(神
を呑みこみし者)
Everyone
closest to the center of Father's nationwide transmutation circle,
including Ed's group, survives to discover that Father has used the
souls of over fifty million Amestrians to suppress God within a new,
youthful body. Father neutralizes everyone's alchemy, but, before he
can annihilate them, Hohenheim reveals his countermeasure: he had spent
years traveling the country, placing fragments of his own Philosopher's
Stone into the earth to use as foundation for returning the Amestrian
souls to their bodies. The stone fragments are activated by the
eclipse's umbra, and the souls are ripped from Father's body back into
their original bodies, which weakens Father to the point of barely
being able to suppress God anymore. The eclipse then lifts, blinding
Bradley with sunlight and allowing Scar to kill him. Scar activates the
nationwide alkahestry circle his brother and fellow Ishbalans had been
preparing, which restores everyone else's alchemy at their greatest
potential. Facing the full strength of his opponents' attacks in his
unstable body, Father retreats aboveground to find more souls and
replenish his stone supply. Ed remains behind to fight Pride while
everyone else chases Father. Pride tries to steal Ed's body to replace
his own unstable one, but Kimblee's soul reappears within him and
taunts him while Ed enters his body and destroys it, reverting him to
the form of a small fetus-like creature. Ed spares Pride's life and
leaves to join his friends.
62
"A
Fierce Counterattack" "Seizetsunaru Hangeki"(凄
絶なる反撃)
Hohenheim
and the others stop Father from making Philosopher's stones, but as Ed
rejoins them, Father spawns humans resembling the people of Xerxes
before attacking with a powerful blast which takes out half the
headquarters. They barely manage to survive the blast, but Al and
Hohenheim take some heavy damage protecting the others. Before Father
can kill Ed and Izumi, the Briggs soldiers, along with several of Ed's
allies, join up to attack Father and use up his stone supply. Father
lets down his barrier temporarily to try and absorb Greed's stone,
giving Ed, Alex and Izumi the opportunity to damage him to the point of
defending himself manually. As Father starts to lose control, he
creates a blast which traps Ed's arm whilst his automail arm is
destroyed. With Ed in danger, Al convinces May to help him perform a
transmutation, trading his soul for the return of Ed's right arm. Al
rejoins with his body on the other side and with his arm returned, Ed
frees himself to unleash a series of blows on Father.
63
"The
Other Side of the Gateway" "Tobira no Mukōgawa"(扉
の向こう側)
While
being effortlessly pummeled, Father desperately tries to absorb Greed's
Philosopher's Stone. Greed decides to part from Lin's body, and uses
his carbonization ability to turn Father's body into weak charcoal.
Father extinguishes Greed's soul, killing him, but Ed punches through
Father's chest, releasing all the souls of the people of Xerxes and
sending Father to the Gate of Truth where he is trapped for eternity.
In the wake of Father's defeat, everyone mourns Al's sacrifice. Ed
rejects using a Philosopher's Stone to bring him back to life, even
after Hohenheim offers his final life as an apology for the pain Ed and
Al were forced through. Ed ultimately decides to perform a human
transmutation on himself, sacrificing his own Gate and his ability to
use alchemy with it. As a reward for discovering he doesn't need to
perform alchemy, Ed is allowed to bring Al back with him in his
original body. As everyone recuperates from the battle, Hohenheim
returns to Resembool and dies peacefully before Trisha's
grave.
64
"Journey's
End" "Tabiji no Hate"(旅
路の涯)
Deciding
to help sort out Ishbalan policies, Roy is approached by Knox and
Marcoh, who offer him a Philosopher's Stone to get his eyesight back,
with Roy insisting it be used to fix Havoc's legs first. Olivier
secretly rescues Scar so that he can assist Miles in rebuilding Ishbal.
Having previously seen off Lin, who had promised to take care of May's
clan among others once he becomes emperor, Ed and Al return to
Risembool where Winry awaits them. Two years later, Grumman, who had
become Fuhrer, visits Mrs.Bradley, who had been raising up Selim to be
a compassionate child. Al decides to travel with Jerso and Zampano to
Xing and other eastern countries to learn about alkahestry, whilst Ed
learns what he can in the west, hoping to pool their research together.
As Ed heads off, he and Winry finally express their love to each other
using the term of equivalent exchange.

and Al hear of a blind alchemist named Judau who had supposedly
performed a successful human transmutation. Meeting up with him, Judau
reveals to Ed that a young girl named Rosalie was resurrected through
alchemy, with his eyes paid for in equivalent exchange. However, the
Madam refuses to teach Ed about the techniques used. Rosalie leads Al
to a room with a little girl's shrivelled corpse inside. She reveals
this as the result of the real Rosalie's transmutation, while she
herself is a girl named Amy, who was adopted due to her similar
appearance to Rosalie. As Ed arrives on the scene, the Madam tells him
that her late husband kept the truth about the transmutation failure
from Judau, who truly wanted to resurrect Rosalie. Ed and Al then
leave, carrying this knowledge with them as well.

While
on their way back to Resembool to have Ed's arm repaired, Ed and Al buy
earrings as souvenirs for Winry to prevent her from getting mad about
the broken automail. Later on, Ed fights an assassin and his automail
gets broken again, and he buys more earrings for Winry to avoid her
wrath. Winry explains that she decided to pierce her ears after meeting
Riza on the day Ed decided to become a State Alchemist. Meanwhile, Riza
explains to her colleague that she grew her hair long after meeting
Winry that same day. Her colleague comments on how simple a reason that
is, and Riza says that reasons are always simple. To explain her
choice, she remarks that they are all living in a simple world - where
when they pull the trigger, their enemies die.

"Tales
of the Master" "Sensei Monogatari"(師

Back
when Izumi was 18, then known as Izumi Harnet, she travels to meet the
alchemist Silver Steiner and request to be his apprentice. Giving her
only a knife, he tells her to survive one month in Mt. Briggs before
she can become his apprentice. On the second day, she is found by some
Briggs guards but manages to beat them and take their food rations. On
the eighth day, she is close to starving to death, but then becomes
motivated to survive. As she learns to defend herself and live off of
the wildlife, she realizes the meaning behind alchemy: that one is all,
and all is one. However, returning after a month, it is revealed she
had been talking to Silver's older brother, Gold Steiner, who is
actually a fighter. Annoyed, Izumi beats him and leaves. The OVA ends
with an exaggerated look on the first meeting between Izumi and
Sig.

In a world where humans coexist with sentient monsters called Yoma that feed on human innards, an organization has created an order of half-human, half-yoma warriors to protect humans from the yoma, for a large fee. The people of this world have dubbed these warriors "Claymores" based on their swords. They are also referred to as "Silver Eyed Witches", based on their appearance and seemingly cold nature toward others. Each Claymore has a rank number which is based on their strength and ability. There are 47 ranks corresponding to the number of regions of the land/world.

"Great
Sword" "Taiken -KUREIMOA-"(大

whole family was killed by a Yoma, so a Claymore comes to kill the
Yoma. Raki interacts with a Claymore who has been licensed to kill a
Yoma (demon) in the village. Raki is confronted by the Yoma, who had
taken the form of his brother, but is subsequently saved by the
Claymore. Raki, who has nowhere to go, follows the Claymore, who
reveals that her name is Clare.
2
"The
Black Card" "Kuro no sho"(黒の書)
Clare
gets a black card from mysterious man that seems to be working with the
organization. Raki witnesses as Clare confronts another Claymore named
Elena. Clare explains that when Claymores use too much Yoma power, they
will become a Yoma one day. When that happens, Claymores will want to
die with human hearts so they send a black card which is in the sword
of the Claymore to the person that they want to be slain by. Clare's
closest friend, Elena, was on the verge of succumbing to her demonic
nature and becoming a Yoma, a process called awakening. Despite Raki's
protests, Clare slays Elena, granting her the solace of dying as a
human.
3
"The
Darkness in Paradise" "Mahoroba no yami"(ま
ほろばの闇)
Clare
is hired to kill a "Voracious Eater" in a holy city where Claymores are
not allowed. Since she is forced to use a special drug to disguise her
Claymore-specific characteristics, she has difficulty sensing where the
Yoma is hiding.
4
"Clare's
Awakening" "Kurea no kakusei"(ク
レアの覚醒)
Clare
comes close to awakening when she uses too much of her Yoki (energy) in
the battle against the Yoma. Raki's efforts halt this transformation,
and one of the knights in the city gives Raki a sword in appreciation
for what he and Clare have done.
5
"Teresa
of the Faint Smile" "Hohoemi no Teresa"(微
笑みのテレサ)
This
is the beginning of a flashback arc. Teresa,
the most powerful Claymore of her era, easily kills a group of Yoma,
including one that had been abusing a young and mute Clare. Since she
has no one else to care for her, Clare follows Teresa through the
wilderness, despite Teresa's best efforts to abandon her.
6
"Teresa
and Clare" "Teresa to Kurea"(テ
レサとクレア)
In
order to save Clare's life from a group of murdering bandits, Teresa
breaks the Claymore law against taking human lives. After Teresa
escapes the initial execution attempt, her overseer, Orsay,
dispatches the second- through fifth-strongest Claymores to deal with
her.
7
"Marked
for Death" "Shisha no rakuin"(死
者の烙印)
Claymores
number two through five, Priscilla, Irene,
Noel, and Sophia, are sent to kill Teresa. Priscilla engages Teresa in
single combat, but she is outmatched despite briefly having the upper
hand. The other three decide that they must assist, and the members of
the team begin to release their Yoki in preparation for the combined
attack.
8
"Awakening" "Kakusei"(覚醒)
Teresa
easily defeats the other Claymores, but spares their lives. Priscilla,
incensed by her defeat, pursues Teresa and releases too much of her
Yoki during the ensuing battle. She awakens, killing Teresa and her
former comrades. Clare is left cradling Teresa's severed head.
9
"Those
Who Rend Asunder (Part 1)" "Kiri saku mono tachi (I)"(斬
り裂く者たち(I))
After
Teresa's death, Clare brings her head to Rubel
and asks to become a Claymore. Back in the present, Clare is assigned
to a party that will be hunting an Awakened Being. After leaving Raki
behind at an inn, Clare departs on the mission with her comrades, Miria, Helen, and Deneve. Once
they engage the Awakened Being, they are surprised to find that he is
male and far stronger than they had expected.
10
"Those
Who Rend Asunder (Part 2)" "Kiri saku mono tachi (II)"(斬
り裂く者たち(II))
The
battle against the male Awakened Being seems hopeless, despite Helen,
Deneve, and Miria demonstrating use of their extraordinary skills.
However, Clare refuses to give up, and uses her Yoki-reading skill to
dodge the enemy's attacks. Together with Miria, Clare attacks the
Awakened Being and kills him. Throughout the entirety of the battle, Galatea, an
"eye" for the Organization, reads the Yoki of the four Claymores from a
great distance and informs her overseer Ermita of the
progression of the battle.
11
"Those
Who Rend Asunder (Part 3)" "Kiri saku mono tachi (III)"(斬
り裂く者たち(III))
As
the four Claymores recover from their injuries, Miria suggests that the
Organization has purposely sent them on a suicide mission, since she
discovers that they are all troublemakers who may have partially
awakened. Deneve proves this theory by intentionally exceeding her
limits in order to heal her wounds. To the Claymores' surprise, she
does not awaken from the process. Miria warns the group to avoid top
five Claymores: Alicia, Beth
Galatea, Ophelia, and Rafaela. She
advises the group to avoid fighting them due to their power.
12
"The
Endless Gravestones (Part 1)" "Hate naki bohyō (I)"(果
て無き墓標(I))
Clare
is sent to engage another Awakened Being with another team. However,
much to Clare's surprise, the team only consists of herself and
Ophelia. To make matters worse, Ophelia's lust for blood and the threat
of the Awakened Being places both Raki's and Clare's lives in
jeopardy.
13
"The
Endless Gravestones (Part 2)" "Hate naki bohyō (II)"(果
て無き墓標(II))
Clare
fights Ophelia and loses her right arm as a result. Irene,
who was presumed dead, saves Clare and severely injures Ophelia.
Frustrated about the untimely demise of her brother at the hands of
Priscilla and her defeat by Irene, Ophelia becomes enraged and awakens.
Clare recuperates and Irene decides to teach Clare her "Quick Sword"
technique.
14
"Qualified
to Fight" "Tatakau shikaku"(闘
う資格)
Shortly
after Clare leaves, Irene is confronted by Rafaela. Elsewhere, aided by
addition of Irene's right arm and the newly-acquired "Quick Sword"
technique, Clare fights Ophelia. During the battle, Ophelia finally
realizes that she has awakened, and becomes paralyzed with shock.
Partially thanks to encouragement from remnants of Ophelia's humanity,
Clare manages to defeat her.
15
"The
Witch's Maw (Part 1)" "Majo no agito (I)"(魔
女の顎門(I))
Unable
to contact Clare for three months after Ophelia's awakening and death,
the organization decides to send Galatea to track her down. In the
meantime, Clare searches for Raki, while disguised and with her energy
suppressed, in a local town. She nearly runs into a party of Claymores
on a hunt for an Awakened Being. The next day, a bloody and shredded
Claymore limps into the town and tells Clare that the party was
captured. She sets off to rescue them as, unbeknownst to her at this
point, they are being tortured into awakening.
16
"The
Witch's Maw (Part 2)" "Majo no agito (II)"(魔
女の顎門(II))
Clare
arrives at a cave inhabited by two Awakened Beings: the "Abyssal One"
known as Riful of the West,
and her lover and protector Dauf.
In her confrontation with Dauf, Clare is rescued by Galatea. They come
to learn of a secret arms race between the three Abyssal Ones of the
North, West, and South and Riful's intentions to raise as many Awakened
troops to join her side as she can before their inevitable
confrontation. As Galatea buys time by distracting Dauf, Clare races to
save Jean, the only
Claymore capable of penetrating Dauf's heavy armour.
17
"The
Witch's Maw (Part 3)" "Majo no agito (III)"(魔
女の顎門(III))
Clare
manages to bring Jean back from an awakened state, gaining her loyalty,
and returns to help Galatea. Together, the battle shifts and Dauf is
defeated, though Riful saves his life. Clare finally lands a hit on
Riful and so she explains about the Northern Kingdom and the name of
its ruler, Isley. Galatea
returns to her mission objective to return Clare to the organization,
but decides to abandon it.
18
"The
Carnage in the North (Part 1)" "Kita no senran (I)"(北
の戦乱(I))
Rubel
and Rafaela confront Clare and Jean, and Rubel gives Clare a mission to
go to the northern lands along with twenty-three other Claymores to
confront a horde of Awakened Beings and the Abyssal One Isley. He also
mentions that Raki has gone there, giving Clare even more incentive to
go. Once there, Clare is reunited with Miria, Helen, and Deneve. The
twenty-four gathered Claymores divide into five teams and are soon
confronted by three Awakened Beings. They literally strike first and
attack them in the town of Pieta.
19
"The
Carnage in the North (Part 2)" "Kita no senran (II)"(北
の戦乱(II))
The
five teams defeat the three Awakened Beings. Some of them suffer
serious wounds, but there are no casualties. Raki is shown wandering in
the ruins of a town already destroyed by Yoma, and meets a child-like
Priscilla. Priscilla takes a sudden liking to him, and Isley,
Priscilla's caretaker, invites Raki to go home with him and
Priscilla.
20
"The
Carnage in the North (Part 3)" "Kita no senran (III)"(北
の戦乱(III))
Raki,
who remains determined to protect Clare, persuades Isley to teach him
swordsmanship; meanwhile, Priscilla continues to express a seemingly
innocent and peaceful liking for Raki. Deneve confronts her captain, Undine, and
the two reconcile by revealing their motivations for becoming
Claymores. Flora,
Clare's captain, distrusts Clare because of her borrowed arm, but
accepts it after Clare reveals it came from Irene. Undine returns to
her team and addresses them rather kindly, puzzling the other
Claymores. In the distance, Isley orders his lieutenant, Rigaldo to
bring along the full manpower of his awakened followers to annihilate
Pieta.
21
"Invasion
of Pieta (Part 1)" "Pieta shinkō (I)"(ピ
エタ侵攻(I))
Clare
and the rest of the Claymores prepare themselves for the next wave of
Awakened Beings. Raki, Isley and Priscilla head towards Pieta while the
Claymores prepare themselves. The Claymores perform well against the
onslaught of Awakened Beings, causing Rigaldo to enter the fray to
prevent any more casualties. Displaying his power, he dispatches four
of the five captains, killing Veronica, Undine, and Flora instantly,
and dealing a blow through Jean's abdomen.
22
"Invasion
of Pieta (Part 2)" "Pieta shinkō (II)"(ピ
エタ侵攻(II))
Clare
and the rest of the surviving Claymores continue their battle against
Rigaldo. Meanwhile Raki is comforting Priscilla, and Isley tells him
the horror of her past. As Rigaldo begins to exclusively attack Miria,
the other Claymores attempt to help, but are easily repelled by
Rigaldo. Even Miria is quickly outmatched by Rigaldo, and as she is
about to be slain, Rigaldo's arm is removed by a seemingly awakened
Clare.
23
"Critical
Point (Part 1)" "Rinkai ten (I)"(臨
界点(I))
As
Raki travels towards Pieta, Clare reveals that she only allowed her
legs to awaken, granting her a massive increase in speed. However, her
speed is uncontrollable, allowing Rigaldo to regain the upper hand in
the battle. Rigaldo, excited at the prospect of a worthy opponent since
his defeat at Isley's hands, releases his full power. Raki arrives, and
witnesses the partially awakened Clare. Determined to avenge Jean's
apparent death, Clare releases dangerous amounts of energy, and
eventually slashes Rigaldo into pieces as Jean regains
consciousness.
24
"Critical
Point (Part 2)" "Rinkai ten (II)"(臨
界点(II))
Unable
to return to her normal state, Clare requests that Helen decapitate her
so she will not awaken. Meanwhile, Priscilla recognizes Clare's energy,
and believing her to be Teresa, has her memories return. Noting
Priscilla's presence, Clare gives chase to Priscilla. Intrigued by the
situation, Isley orders his forces to remain on the sidelines as he
observes the situation. In response to the situation, the Organization
dispatches Galatea to examine the conflict in the north.
25
"For
Whose Sake" "Ta ga tame ni"(誰
が為に)
The
fight between Clare and Priscilla rages on inside of a volcano while
Isley observes the battle. Priscilla, who does not realize that she is
an Awakened Being, easily repels Clare, who she believes to be Teresa.
Meanwhile, Jean and Raki travel towards the battleground. As Clare is
about to be killed by Priscilla, Miria, Helen, and Deneve save her.
They manage to acquire an advantage, but Priscilla fully releases her
power, as she had not fully awakened at that point. She effortlessly
defeats the three Claymores. Determined to avenge Teresa, Clare fully
releases her energy in an effort to defeat her.
26
"To
the Successors" "Uketsugu mono e"(受
け継ぐものへ)
Clare,
nearly fully awakened, continues the battle, but Priscilla still
dominates the fight with apparent ease, until Clare, spurred by
flashbacks of Teresa, finally hits her with multiple devastating
attacks. Priscilla reverts to her human form and is about to be killed
when Raki intervenes, but Clare, unable to control herself, attacks him
as well. Jean takes the blow instead and, although fatally wounded,
manages to have Clare revert to her human form, leaving Clare tormented
with grief for the death of her comrade. Priscilla is then retrieved by
Easley. In the last scenes, Miria, Helen, Deneve, and Clare announce
their wish to leave the Organization and depart on separate journeys,
with Helen traveling with Deneve, and Raki with Clare.
